South River Youth Athletics is a non-profit organization administered by a volunteer board representing the South River Community at large, whose mission is to: promote, encourage, direct and operate athletic programs for the children and youth of the South River area, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The association shall also strive to promote ideals of good citizenship as well as good sportsmanship through its athletic programs and activities, and for the benefit of the community.

• SRYA Cheer Squads
  After months of practice, the South River Youth Athletics Competition Cheerleaders headed to Salisbury, Maryland to compete in their first competition of the winter season. On January 15, 2012, the Cheer and Dance Extreme competition convened 50 teams to compete in All Star and Recreation divisions. All three Seahawk teams finished in FIRST PLACE within their division with exciting, crowd appealing routines. The 14U team had the highest score of the day and took home the GRAND CHAMPION title in the Recreation division for the second year in a row!

• SRYA Polar Plunge Team
  

  SRYA will be participating in the annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge on January 28, 2012 which helps benefit Special Olympics Maryland. Our team last year consisted of young and old, children and parents, brothers and sisters, coaches and players, friends and neighbors and we all had a BLAST! It was a fun day for a good cause! • February 9th Fundraiser at the Bayside Inn
  

  Take the night off from cooking and enjoy a meal at the Bayside Inn on the Mayo Peninsula at 1246 Central Ave. East. SRYA is hosting a fundraiser at the Bayside Inn on Thursday, February 9th. Equipment Swap

South River Youth Athletics hosts Sporting Equipment Swaps throughout the year. We collect gently used CLEATS, PADS, LACROSSE STICKS, BASEBALL/SOFTBALL GLOVES, SOCCER SHIN GUARDS, ATHLETIC CLOTHING & BALLS (etc.) from the various sports that our children play and put them to good use in our community. This is a great opportunity to donate, swap or receive what your child may need. Many times, our children outgrow equipment before it gets much use at all. This equipment can be used to meet a need of another family in our community. If you have items that you would like to donate or swap please contact Hilary Bunting.
